It would be beneficial to use fuel cell technology to heat electric cars so as
to extend the range rather than decrease the range.  Fuels other than hydrogen
could be used so a pressure vessel would not be needed as a propane tank could
be used.  Fuel cells are more efficient than heat engines so cogeneration
could reduce the cost of energy distribution and the carbon footprint.

Thick wall tubes could be used for hydrogen storage eliminating the extra weight 
of the 2000psig hydrogen tanks.
